Research- YAY!!!!
i really love tarzan and jane's relationship. i love how in this scene the audience are able to relate and understand the character's thoughts and feelings despite the fact that the character does not speak.
that's something that i really like: love isn't always spoken, it is more often than not, shown and visible and not heard.
I am also a sucker for the cliche for the two strangers from different world's coming together. Beauty and the beast; tarzan and jane; aladdin and jasmine are all stories that i simply adore. perhaps its because i identify with these stories due to my own personal experiences.
My partner and i are in an interracial relationship. at the very start of the relationship both our families were opposed to the idea and it was a difficult obstacle to overcome and it almost lead to us ending it. his family are muslim and the idea of having a girlfriend is odd so understandably they didn't understand why he was doing it.
we also have to be careful because there are areas where we live that are more hostile than others. he has experienced some racism in his life and is fearful that the sight of us holding hands or kissing in public would spark something awful. i think it's heartbreaking that he has to tell me to let go of his hand because he is scared someone would hurt me.
